Interior Designer

Soderstrom Architects is seeking an Interior Designer candidate who is interested in opportunity for growth with our firm. Our Interior Design staff work as part of an integrated project team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about interior design, have a strong design sensibility and appreciate the process of articulating design through visualization and materiality. LEED certification is desirable as well as demonstration of a strong understanding of sustainable design.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with and lead design efforts on different project types.
  • Conceptualize and present design ideas through 3D visualization and hand sketching.
  • Develop space plans and programming documentation.
  • Source, select and budget finish materials and furniture.
  • Assist with and lead preparation of design and construction documents and generate detailed solutions to interior architectural problems.
  • Interface with owners, contractors, and consultants.
  • Organize and prioritize own work efforts as well as assist with organizing team members, tasks, and meetings.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFI’s.
  • Contribute to team effort through the spirit of collaboration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in interior architecture or interior design.
  • NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer and/or Interior Architect License.
  • 8+ years’ experience in a professional architectural practice.
  • Ability to communicate design intent through digital and traditional graphic methods.
  • Proficiency in Revit, 3D Studio, SketchUp, InDesign and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with finish materials, specifications, furniture and interior details.
  • Knowledge of building codes and building systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while performing on multiple simultaneous projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare and Educational Design experience (K-12 and higher education).
  • Experience in selection and specification of furniture and furniture systems.
  • LEED Certification and other professional affiliations, such as IIDA.

Architectural Intern

Always looking for talent, we are currently seeking Architectural Interns to join our team. Interns form a critical element of our office, providing energy, inspiration and passion to projects. We reward that passion with exposure to all aspects of design, encouraging collaboration and creativity, while also supporting technical advancement and skill building.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop presentation and display materials under direction of Project Manager/Architect, and develop technical design solutions for specific areas of project as determined by Project Manager/Architect.
  • Present design solutions in-house and to others as required and develop project specification data for new structure or renovation projects applying knowledge of basic structural and site design, construction
  • Develop high-quality visualizations of building exterior and interior environments, in a variety of styles with focus on both photo-realistic renderings and sketch or hand-drawn renderings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Two to three years of professional experience utilizing Revit, Autodesk 3D Max, Vray, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape and Lumion 3D software.
  • Professional experience with design of heathcare, mixed-use, educational and/or higher ed buildings.
  • Professional experience with energy-efficient design for commercial buildings.
  • Professional five-year Bachelors degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two years post-bachelors progressive experience as an Architectural Intern, Junior Architect, Designer, Renderer, or similar position.

Project Architect / Project Manager

Soderstrom Architects is looking for a licensed project architect, or a project manager, with 4-10 years of experience. The candidate we are looking for is someone with a great attitude, aptitude, and work ethic that fit with our values.

Requirements

  • Professional degree in Architecture, minimum.
  • Four years relevant professional experience, minimum.
  • Construction document production experience.
  • Experience with jurisdictional code requirements.
  • Experience with construction administration.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

Preferences

  • Two to three years of professional experience utilizing Revit, Autodesk 3D Max, Vray, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape and Lumion 3D software
  • LEED AP accredited.
