Reed Lewis, LEED AP
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, WINE & SPIRITS STUDIO
Reed began working with Laurence Ferar in 1988. Prior to his work with Ferar, he worked as a cabinetmaker, building custom cabinets and museum exhibits, and as a general contractor primarily engaging in residential and landscape construction. Reed’s landscape work has been published in Sunset Magazine. Reed has served as project architect on many of the winery projects undertaken by the studio.
Reed volunteered for many years with the City of Portland’s Hoyt Arboretum, his activities ranging from trail maintenance to master planning. In 1985 He received Portland Park’s Special Service Award. Between 2008 and 2015 he served as Scoutmaster of his son’s Boy Scout troop. Reed has also been an active volunteer with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
With his background in landscape, construction and architecture Reed brings a unique perspective to the siting and design of buildings. His approach includes the graceful integration of buildings with their environment, a deep understanding of the construction process and its influence on the building’s design, and a careful consideration to the practical details encountered by people as they use and inhabit buildings.
