Interior Designer

Soderstrom Architects is seeking an Interior Designer candidate who is interested in an opportunity for growth with our firm. Our interior design staff work as part of an integrated project team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about interior design, have a strong design sensibility and appreciate the process of articulating design through visualization and materiality. LEED certification is desirable as well as demonstration of a strong understanding of sustainable design.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on projects of various types from conceptual design to construction administration.
  • Assist team by: drawing, coordinating and documenting interior drawings, specifications, and material selections required for construction.
  • Assist on selection and documentation of furniture systems and equipment.
  • Develop high-quality visualizations of interior environments, in a variety of styles with a focus on both photo-realistic renderings and sketch or hand-drawn renderings.
  • Coordinate and participate in interior product presentations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in interior architecture or interior design.
  • 4 to 6 years’ experience in a professional architectural practice.
  • Ability to communicate design intent through digital and traditional graphic methods.
  • Proficiency in Revit, 3D Studio, SketchUp, InDesign and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with finish materials, specifications, furniture and interior details.
  • Knowledge of building codes and building systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and analytical skills
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while performing on multiple simultaneous projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare and Educational Design experience (K-12 and higher education).
  • LEED Certification and other professional affiliations, such as IIDA.

Architectural Designer

Soderstrom is currently seeking an Architectural Designer with 3 to 6 years of experience to join our team.  Designers form a critical element of our office, providing energy, inspiration and passion to projects. We reward that passion with exposure to all aspects of design, encouraging collaboration and creativity, while also supporting technical advancement and skill building.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop presentation and display materials under direction of Project Manager/Architect, and develop technical design solutions for specific areas of project as determined by Project Manager/Architect.
  • Present design solutions in-house and to others as required.
  • Develop project specification data for new structure or renovation projects, applying knowledge of basic structural and site design and construction.
  • Develop high-quality visualizations of building exterior and interior environments, in a variety of styles with a focus on both photo-realistic renderings and sketch or hand-drawn renderings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3 to 6 years’ professional experience utilizing Revit, Autodesk 3D Max, Vray, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape and Lumion 3D software.
  • Professional experience with design of healthcare, mixed-use, educational and / or higher ed buildings.
  • Professional experience with energy-efficient design for commercial buildings.
  • Professional five-year bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Three years post-bachelor’s progressive experience as an Architectural Designer or similar position.
