Marlene Gillis President

Marlene Gillis AIA, ALEP, LEED AP, CCS

Marlene has worked on educational projects for the entire 25 years of her career. As a nationally certified educational planner with A4LE and a state-certified assessor with the Oregon Department of Education, she looks at projects with a uniquely balanced perspective. Her expertise has provided outstanding learning environments for students across Oregon, particularly in smaller cities where schools are the heart of the community, including recent clients St. Helens, Ashland, McKenzie, and Parkrose school districts.

As a second-generation Oregonian, Marlene has a strong connection to her community and a commitment to community service. She has volunteered with AFO’s Architects-in-Schools program for over ten years, and is also on the advisory board of Centennial School District’s Sabin-Schellenberg Center architecture program. Recognizing the importance of fostering the next generation of architects, she works to develop their passion for the built world around them, with a particular focus on supporting non-traditional and diverse students.
