Munro Scheduling Center

This mission critical facility is designed to serve as an emergency backup facility for electrical power grid scheduling operations. The project is adjacent to the Munro Control Center and includes power scheduling, transmission scheduling, alarm monitoring and additional IT offices for the Munro Control Center, as well as relocated offices for the BPA Spokane Regional Office.

The project required intense collaboration with BPA staff in order to meet the highest seismic resistance criteria for full and immediate operability after an earthquake. The mission critical portions of the facility were designed to North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERCCIP) criteria and have redundant electrical and HVAC systems. The Spokane regional office portion of the project was designed for energy efficiency, with daylighting, displacement ventilation, radiant slab heating and cooling, and a geothermal heat pump system.
