We’re excited to announce that our project for University of Portland, Dundon-Berchtold Hall, recently took home the 1st Place award at the DJC Top Projects Awards in the category of Secondary Education. A collaborative effort between Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Soderstrom, the project team worked closely together with Fortis Construction, KPFF Consulting Engineers, and Interface Engineering.

Dundon-Berchtold Hall is first new academic building on the University of Portland campus in over 20 years. The site is adjacent to Romanaggi Hall, a building with traditional pointed arches, and Waldschmidt Hall, the oldest building on campus, constructed in 1891. As a result, the design team chose a classic, collegiate Gothic expression to complement the neighboring buildings and enhance the distinct sense of place at University of Portland.
