School of Nursing Simulated Health Center

The University of Portland Elsie Franz Finley Simulated Health Center in the School of Nursing & Health Innovations is the first healthcare simulation center in Oregon to be fully accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. The renovation turned two classrooms and outdated simulation rooms into six trauma simulation rooms, four debrief rooms, 17 acute care bays, and a large storage room. A control room allows all six simulation rooms to operate at the same time. Entering through a set of double doors, the students now go from an academic environment into a simulated health center with hospital-like finishes, ICU doors, trauma rooms, and acute care simulation bays.  The space mirrors a modern hospital environment, with eight-foot-wide hallways with crash rails on both sides and trauma rooms that have special lighting over the patient beds so that the nursing students can have a true patient care experience.
