Soderstrom is pleased to announce that Wayne van Loon has joined the Ferar Wine & Spirits Studio. Wayne has over 15 years of experience in the programming and design of wineries along the west coast. In his role as project manager and designer, Wayne collaborates closely with owners to translate their vision and production needs into an efficient and elegant design. His clients include Domaine Serene, Lingua Franca, and Abbott Claim.
“I appreciate the often surprising outcome of a design when it follows a collaborative and inspirational process; some of the best design is accomplished organically when a team’s collective contributions are embraced,” says Wayne.
Prior to practicing architecture, Wayne spent ten years working for a small family winery in the Willamette Valley and several years owning and operating a hard cidery in Northern California. His experience in all aspects of the industry, from production to marketing, gives him a deep understanding of winemakers’ needs and allows him to serve as a liaison between the worlds of wine and architecture.
Active in the local community, Wayne has been heavily involved in the annual International Pinot Noir Celebration for over 25 years. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Sparkling Wine Symposium, and volunteers for ¡Salud!, a nonprofit providing healthcare services to migrant workers in the wine industry.
