Architecture
Making Oregon better, one school at a time.
At Soderstrom, we are passionate about K-12 architecture that empowers teachers, nurtures students, and encourages civic pride. Creating state-of-the-art, sustainable buildings which guide the formation of inspired students is probably the most direct and tangible connection we have to the future of our communities.

From Our Clients
“Knowing the team had their eyes on every aspect of the project from top to bottom, start to finish, really allowed our school staff to focus on the education of our students throughout the project…Partnering with our staff from Greater Albany Public Schools, [Soderstrom] really delivered a product above and beyond what we imagined. We feel this is a highly flexible, forward thinking building that will serve students very well for years to come.”
Doug Pigman | Former Facilities Director, Greater Albany Public Schools
“The team at Soderstrom was more than willing to listen to our ideas and cultivate a plan that surpassed our expectations. Soderstrom exceeded our needs as a District and we would gladly work with them again as well as highly recommend Soderstrom Architects to anyone looking for a first-class architectural firm.”
Jared Plahn | Facilities Manager, St. Helens School District
“I can’t say enough great things about Soderstrom. I do believe we owe a lot of credit to them for their creativity, beautiful designs, willingness to factor in affordability and willingness to think out of the box alongside us. Most importantly, Soderstrom listened us to us, our needs and our community.”
Todd Miller | Superintendent, Santiam Canyon School District
Design Principles
Educational Excellence
Above all, our goal is to deliver high quality learning spaces suited to your school’s culture and curriculum. Our designs make best use of available resources to maximize student and staff capabilities.
Building Community
We believe public buildings should be proud representatives of their community. Our aim is to listen and learn about your district while providing tailored, expert recommendations for future growth.
Safety, Security, and Wellbeing
While creating safe and secure facilities, we also emphasize general occupant wellbeing. We want to protect your staff and students in a positive and nurturing space that they can look forward to seeing each day.
Collaborative Engagement
We work closely with your team of decision makers to prioritize and evaluate design solutions. Through stakeholder and community outreach, we ensure that all voices have an opportunity to contribute to a successful project.
Sense of Place
A school is more than just a series of classrooms. It represents a unique time in students’ lives that they will carry with them into adulthood. Our designs look for opportunities to excite and inspire.

Commitment that goes beyond the drawing board
The foundation of our approach is building good relationships that continue long after the construction projects are over. It’s not at all unusual for us to work with schools for many years, often starting with the facilities assessment and long-range plan but then continuing to serve in a multitude of capacities to assist in construction and planning needs. For long-term clients we are willing to tackle any request from small renovations and seismic retrofits to complex, multi-phased projects on occupied sites.
